I have recently been keeping up with a blog that really touches my heart. You know them... they are out there, these blogs with meanings... more than just friendly updates. The ones that cause us to really think and reflect on our selves. Well after reading this particular one I began to feel really convicted. I can do so much more with this blog than briefly update you on whats going on in our lives. I... like most really only give the fluff. The nice sweet stuff that's not to difficult or hard to understand. Now, don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with this... sometimes we need fluff and want to look at things that don't require much thought... nice, happy things. But like I mentioned earlier I have been convicted. I feel like the Lord is challenging me to do so much more, and to be honest. I hope that this will touch just one person. If it does then I have done what I feel like I am being challenged to do. I promise to be honest and not just give you the fluff anymore. So here I will start.... THE REAL BLOGGING BEGINS

Tonight I had dinner with one of my friends and we began to talk about "the old days" ( ha like its been that long) We started talking about how much I have changed over the past couple of years. For those of you who didn't know me let me fill you in... I was not that great. I was loud, could be very obnoctious and really really FAKE! I was very materialistic and judgemental. Now looking back all I can think is YUCK! When I think about that person I was I think about how unhappy I was. I didn't act that way to turn people away... oh no, the exact opposite. I acted that way to try and get people to like me. I tried so hard to be a person that people liked that I did the exact opposite. I became somebody who most people did not like. I always put on a big production so that hopefully nobody would see the real me.. You see I could handle people not liking this fake person I was... but I was afraid for them to really know who I was and to not like that person. It really took growing up and going through some VERY humbling experiences to wake up. It also took alot of God's amazing grace!! I am so glad that he allowed me to reach a point that I thought was rock bottom because I didn't have any where to go but up. Now I try to be a real genuine person. I try to be someone that I am happy with, that my son will be proud of and most importantly a Child of God. If you knew me back then and I ever did anything to turn you off I am so sorry. I know that I can never take that person back, but in a way I am glad. She showed me exactly who I don't want to be. For those of you people who saw a glimpse of good in me thank you for sticking through it with me. If you ever go through this, even just a fraction of it... I wan't you to know that you don't have to put on a show. Your friends and loved ones will love you for who you are.

Thursday night we took Jack to his first Mississippi State Football game! He had the best time. He loved seeing bully and really enjoyed meeting a real bulldog. While sitting at our tail gate Fred Smoot came by and he was gracious enough to take a picture with Jack. I was kind of worried about how Jack would act once we got inside the game with it being a night game and loud, but he LOVED it! He did so good. He loved the band and seeing bully on the field. I can't wait to take him back for many more! Even though we lost it was the best game ever.

Saturday we had Jack's party. It was golf themed. We served "CLUB SAND WEDGES", "PAR" faits, doughnut "HOLES", Ice "TEE" and golf course cup cakes. He had a blast. Jason and I got him a golf cart and he lOVES it. The kids bounced and took turns driving the cart. Thank you so much everyone who came and made is party so perfect. We love yall!

Saturday Jason and I took Jack to one of our favorite places, Starkville MS. Our first stop was Sports Center. There Jack really enjoyed "shooting" all of the mounted animals. We then went to the Lodge. When we walked in Jack looked like a kid on christmas morning. He looked at me and he said "momma bulldogs". He loved it there we got him a new hat and a stuffed bully. We named bully max and Jack is in love with him :) When we left The Lodge we took Jack on campus and he loved seeing the stadium. In Barnes and Nobles we got him a MSU back pack for school (mother morning out). We finished the day off at the grill. It was a perfect day and I am so excited to announce that we have a true Bulldog fan on our hands. He loves his dawgs. His new favorite song to sing is "who let the dawgs out". I love it! Only 4 more weeks till game time :)

Memphis Weekend!

This past Saturday Jason and I went to Memphis for a date night. We left Kosciusko around 8:30 and arrived in Memphis at 11:00. We hit Rendezvous first! Their bbq nachos are my favorite!! After lunch Jason went to play golf at Tunica National and I went shopping with some friends. We met back up in Memphis and went and ate at The Butcher Shop. They have some of the best steaks! We played on Beale for a little while and went back to our hotel. We stayed at The Madison. I had a great time and am so lucky my sweet husband surprised me with this little get away!

Rocking my sweet baby boy to sleep tonight I started thinking about Gods great sacrifice. As a mother I can only imagine what that would be like! Let us not forget what Easter is really about. Its not quite as cute and simple as the eater bunny, it has 2 parts. The first part is horrible. The suffering and humiliation Jesus suffered is unbelievable; yet the second part is amazing! Jesus rose from the dead. He is alive and because of this I am jumping for joy! I pray that we be like the robber next to Jesus and ask him for forgiveness and all meet him in paradise!

Last weekend Lauren and I took SaraBeth and Jack to the Mississippi State Baseball game! We had a great day. We started off at the lodge and worked our way to Occasions and polka tots. After a little shopping we headed to campus and made the game at the top of the 5th. We ended up getting really great seats right behind the mound. The kids did really great, Jack loved it. At the top of the 9th we decided to beat traffic and head to the car. The nicest man in a cart gave us a ride back to the car. After the game we had dinner at the grill and went to walmart. I can't wait to go back :) p.s. We Won!

Today Jack and I surpised our sweet friend Carley Crosby for her birthday. Her birthday was tuesday and on Thursday I called and asked her mom if it would be ok if Jack and I surprised her and pick her up from school. Her mom said that would be fine. So we picked her up and took her to The Beehive Bakery for a sweet treet after school and gave her present. Thank you Carley for all the time you take up with Jack... ( and the whole sweet Crosby family!) Happy Birthday sweet girl!

This is for a special friend :) I love makeup and over the years I would like to think that I have learned a few things. This is a step by step guide to the 5 min. face.

1. tinted moisturizer.... or liquid foundation if you need something heavier. I like a tinted moisturizer because it moisturizes and gives you a little coverage.
2. loose powder. the key to your loose powder is your brush. You want to use a Large brush.
3. creaseless cream eyeshadow. It is the easiest eye shaddow. I use my finger and swipe it over my lid. I love benefit butter cream and sparkling champagne
4. blush. Again use a larger blush. I like bright colors a pinky pink is actually the universal color that looks great on everyone
5. Mascara

After you master this you can begin to play :)

The luck of the irish...

This past weekend Jason and I stayed in Jackson. We left around lunch Friday and headed down for some shopping and lunch. We went to Dicks and I got a new outfit for my race the next day and Jason got some things too. After Dicks we had lunch at one of our favorite places, Five Guys. It is amazing, if you havent tried it, i suggest you do :) When we left there we went to Fleet Feet so I could get some new running shoes. My old ones had some miles on them. Before we went to our hotel we had wedding cake cupcakes from Gigi's cupcakes. They were amazing, but no way we could eat all of that icing! We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in the old King Edward Hotel. The hotel was so nice. We got in and dressed and met up with our friends the Popes and Matthew McCool for some good seafood at Shuckers. We called it an early night because Jason, Gena and I were racing the next morning. Bright and early Saturday we got up to race in the Mal's St. Paddy's day race. It was great weather and I set a new pr. I haven't really ran much since my half in December, so this past week I decided to get back in the groove. I have already got 3 more races in mind. I want to do the Natchez Trace 10k, the Marathon Makeover 1/2 marathon in October ( the day after my bday!) and The St. Jude Marathon... better get busy. After the race I went with Jason to Edwin Watts and he got some new clubs. We had lunch at Kiefers. It is amazing!!! We ate at the one down town and then met up with some of our friends for the parade. We had lunch at Hal and Mal's with our friends Grant and Rachel. We decided that downtown was way to busy and we were ready for an easy night so we went to the movies and saw "Hall Pass" It is HILARIOUS, BUT very graphic. Not one for everybody. We finished the night with some Cold Stone :) Jason and I packed up early Sunday morning, had Krispy Kreme and made it home in time for church. After church we met up with Katelin and Trent and the boys taught us to play golf ( not very well). It was a GREAT weekend, but we were really glad to get Jack back home Sunday evening.

This past Sunday we had Jack's baby dedication. It was amazing. I realized how blessed we are. God has given me everything Jason, Jack and a wonderful family. I was so excited for Jack when I looked into the crowd sunday and saw all of the amazing family we had there. I know that each of them will play a part in the man that Jack becomes. I also know that they will not take that job lightly and will be Godly influences. Thank you all so much, family and friends, for loving Jack as much as we do!!

The Memphis Zoo!

Last weekend we took Jack to the Memphis Zoo. Jason's parents went with us and we headed that way about 6:30 in the am. We stopped in Batesville at Cracker Barrel for some breakfast (yum) and arrived at the zoo around 10. We had a blast! I loved it and Jack really enjoyed all the animals. I can't wait to take him back. Afterward we had dinner at Rendezvous (even bigger yum!)

Since it's getting closer to valentines day I am feeling a little mushy. I just realized that I have never really blogged about Jason. So here I go. I personally think he is amazing! He works harder than any man I know. He sacrifices nights and weekends to provide for our family. He is an amazing father. He loves Jack and will even crawl through a small tunnel to play in his tent with him. He is also a Great Husband. I know he loves me with all of his heart. He is a great son and grandson. He visits his grandparents more than any other person I know. We have our ups and downs, always have and probably always will, but I know he is my rock he keeps me sane and peps me up when I am down. I love you Jason Scott Vance and I am so lucky to have married you!

Cajun Shrimp Mac-n-Cheese

INGREDIENTS
1 lb. Cavatappi pasta cooked (any pasta will work )

8 T. butter, divided

1 lb. medium shrimp cut in thirds

1 tsp. cajun seasoning, divided

1 T. grated onion

3 T. flour

3 cups milk

1/2 lb. Swiss cheese (grated)

1/2 lb. cheddar cheese (grated)

1 lb. pepper Jack cheese (grated and divided)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup bread crumbs

1 tsp. parsley

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350°.

2. Melt butter in medium sauce pan. Add shrimp, sprinkle with 1/2 tsp. cajun seasoning. Cook 3-4 minutes, remove.

3. In same pan melt 2T butter, add onion and sauté 1 minute. Whisk in flour, cook 1 minute. Whisk in milk and heat approximately 4 minutes. Add Swiss, cheddar and 3/4 lb. pepper Jack cheese. Stir until smooth. Add 1/2 tsp. cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir in cooked shrimp.

4. In buttered casserole dish add cooked cavatappi pasta. Pour cheese sauce over mix to cover all pasta.

5. Top with 1/4 lb. pepper Jack cheese, bread crumbs, 3 T. melted butter and parsley.

6. Bake 45 minutes.

For New Years we went to Jacksonville, Fl to watch the Bulldogs play in the gator bowl. New years eve a large group of us had a maroon dodge charge limo drive us around Jacksonville. We went to a toppas bar and then to some brewery, we even ended up on a boat. New years is always so talked up and it always seemed to let me down, but THIS year it was amazing. This is how you are supposed to ring in the new year, with good food, good friends and the one you love!

I cannot begin to express how excited I am for the new year! 2010 had it's ups and downs and I have to say that I was glad to let it go. 2010 had some great things, but I am determined to make 2011 even better!!!! One thing I learned this past year is that I have to trust more in God and HE will see me through. I am so excited about strengthening my relationship with him in this new year. When I get my life straight with him everything will fall into place. My new years resolutions are to slow down and spend more time with my family, to allow good people into my life, to be less judgmental and to forgive people the way the Lord has forgiven me.

Jack had a very merry Christmas! He is a loved little boy. He got up early Christmas morning to see his gifts santa brought. He got some carhart clothes and some new big boy clothes. Christmas Eve is our busiest night of the year!! I love it. We see everybody in our family on this one night! I forgot my camera for the first two Christmas's we went to :( We started off at my Dad's house at 4:00 and ate and opened presents. My Dad isn't always home on Christmas so it is extra special when he is. Jack got to play with all of his cousins! Second we went to Jason's grandmothers house, we ate again and opened presents again. Nanny and Jack gave us a bulldog peter's pottery and I LOVE IT!!!! Last we went to My aunt Wendy and uncle Jesse's BRAND NEW HOUSE!!!!! If anybody deserved a new house it was them. The house is beautiful and we had another round of food and gifts. Every year my Sissy writes a letter to everybody and a few special letters to her favorite girls! (me, Kelly, Kasey and Karly) We also play dirty santa, and it gets pretty dirty ha! I love our large crazy family!!! Only 11 more months until we do it again!!!

Saturday after my race we headed on back home so we could go to our annual friends Christmas party. It was at the Moore's house.We had so much fun. All the kids were a lot of fun this year! Can't wait for next years!

This past weekend I did something a lot of people will never do. I ran a 1/2 marathon for St. Jude in Memphis. It was the most amazing, humbling thing I have done in a long time. St. Jude is such an amazing organization and I am so proud to have ran for them!

Sunday Jason, Jack, Mrs. Donna and Mr. Rodney went to Jackson to get our trees, go see Santa at Bass Pro and to stop by Canton and see the lights. We had the best time. Jack LOVED Santa and the lights. He cried when we tried to take him away from him. I am so glad that Jack has the Christmas spirit as much as Jason and I do! He says HO HO HO!

Saturday Mom, Kelly, Marlie, Jack and I went to the pumpkin patch! They really liked the pumpkins but it was really hot so we didn't do the tour. We plan to take them back when it cools off a little more. We finished the day with a little target, party city, and steak escape. Can't wait to go back! I love being with my girls and Jack :)

One year ago God gave us the greatest gift of all. The joy of a child is like none other. I cannot put into words the love I feel for this little man. He is the light of our life. Sawyer Jackson Vance was born on August 25, 2010 and weighed 7lb 15 oz. He was 21 in long. He has such a great personality! Such a mix between both Jason and me. He is our greatest achievement in life! Momma and Daddy love you Jack!!!!!

In July we also took a fun trip to Oxford! We had a blast shopping and eating and playing with babies. We went with The Pettits, The Hawkins, The Warringtons, and The Popes! I hope we can do it again soon!

Words can't express how much fun we had in JULY! On July 10 we left out of Mobile, Al on a week long cruise. Our good friends the Pettits went with us and we had so much fun. The second day Whitney and I got massages then we layed out the rest of the day. It was also the captain's dinner and Jason's BIRTHDAY! Next was Jamaica where we went on a catamaran snorkeling and then it took us to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville! After Jamaica was The Cayman Islands here Whitney, Hart and I shopped and Jason played golf. Whit and I got the boys the cutest guy harvey t-shirts. Our last excursion of the cruise was Cozumel. We took the twister speed boat to the private isla passion. We decided that because it was raining we did not want to stay at the island our whole time in cozumel so we took a taxi back to the main land and we had a blast! The rest of the trip was just resting up for the real world! I can't wait to go on another trip with our best friends :)

I am so excited! July 10th we leave to go on a cruise with our good friends the Pettits. We are going on a 7 night cruise to Jamaica, Cozumel, and the Cayman Islands. I think about it all the time. It helps me get through work everyday!! We are leaving Jack at home and I am a little sad about that. I have never been away from him for more than a couple of nights. I know he will have fun though while we are gone visiting with family. So just ONE month to go...(from tomorrow!)

Week Off!

This past week I had the week off and Jack and I had a blast we swam, ate at mcdonalds, visited paw paw had cake, went to Jackson and the Relay for life with our good friends Whitney and Tanner, and went to Marlie's Birthday party! here are a few pictures! Jack had the best time playing with Tanner! They were so sweet in Jackson together. Most of the week we laid by the pool... It was amazing! I don't want to go back to work tomorrow!!

Thursday was our groups first bunko meeting and I was lucky enough to host! I was so nervous all week long. I laid in bed all nigh Thursday arranging things in my head! I served gulf coast shrimp dip, ceaser salad, Cajun shrimp and grits, garlic cheddar biscuits and KING CAKE! The theme was Mardi Gras. I had such a good time and had the best partner! She won big bunkos! Go Marhsa!!!! I have to say I think it went really well! Hope we have many more to come! I can't wait till next month!

Ok, so Jack has never been really interested in any of his toys until today! We went to Garrison's first birthday party and in Jack's goody bag was a cute little pig (his birthday was farm themed!) Well, Jack FELL IN LOVE with this little pig! He sang to it in the car! This may be Jack's best little friend! How sweet!

I have Got to start blogging better.... For those of you who have requested here it is... Jack is growing like a WEED! He may be a giant, just saying. I took him to the doctor 2 weeks ago and he weighed 10 pounds and was 22 inches.... he got measured the NEXT week and he weighed 11 1/2 pounds and was 23 1/2 inches! He is growing out of clothes and shoes like it is going out of style! He is also getting sooo sweet!!! He smiles alot when I talk to him.... So that is the update for now! I am going to try to be a better blogger from now on! (MOM)

I have been really bad about blogging lately so here is a little update. Jack is doing so good! He sleeps 4 to 7 hours at a time so that is making it easy on me since Jason is working alot lately and leaves every morning at 4:30. He is growing like a weed. He has now out grown his newborn clothes in length. If it has footies on it he cant straighten his legs and if it doesn't he look like he is wearing capris, so now it is on to 0-3 months!

Jack is 2 weeks old today! It seems like it went by so fast. We have been so blessed so far. Jack is such a good sleeper and he only cries if he is 1. hungry or 2. naked. He has been such a Joy to Jason and me. We can't wait to watch him grow!

Saturday Jason and I got out of the house and went to Starkville to see the Bulldogs play! We had such a good time catching up with our tailgate buddies and watching the game (even though it rained!). Don't worry we didn't take little Jack, we know he isn't quite ready yet, but we can't wait to take him next year!!! Later that night, when we got home, we went to our friends the Pettit's house. We enjoyed our grownup weekend, but we were ready to go get Jack the next day so his uncle Josh and and aunt Beth could come meet him!

Well we are finally settling in at home as a sweet little family! Last night Jack did pretty good... We did find out that he is getting a little more hungry every day and that he doesn't like for the house to be silent when he sleeps, other than that he is perfectly happy and content. Well it all started Saturday morning at 2:00 am. I woke up having contractions and was very sick. I went to the hospital and was put on an IV and was there until around lunch. They sent me home because my contractions weren't far enough apart. While home I only got more sick and started running a fever so we went back at about 10 that night and i stayed the night. They sent me home Sunday and I felt much better. Tuesday I saw Dr. Brantley and my bp was high so she said "lets go get this little man". Jason and I were in shock! After the long weekend we had we never expected we would be scheduled for a section that day, SO..... Sawyer Jackson Vance was born August 25, 2009 at 1:26 pm. He weighs 7lbs 8oz and is 21 inches long! We instantly fell in love (Jason is completely wrapped around his little finger)! Here are a few pictures. The internet here at the hospital is slow so I will try to add more later.
